Start with the disc your family actually owns
DIGIRAW describes its home video DVD output as MP4 files. That makes its published offer especially relevant when a wedding, birthday or school performance has already been recorded onto DVD. Before arranging an order, check the labels and cases carefully: a DVD containing a previous tape transfer is a different starting point from the original VHS cassette.
Make a short inventory with one entry per item, preserving any handwritten titles. Ask a relative whether apparently similar discs hold different edits or duplicate copies. For tapes, note the format and visible condition without opening the cassette. Ask about damage, mould or a broken shell before trying playback; do not assume that a disc conversion service includes tape repair or restoration.
Home video prices have their own scale
The published FAQ gives Home Video conversion as £29 in total for 1-2 discs. For 3-4 discs, the price is £11 per disc; for 5 or more, £10 per disc; and for 10 or more, £9 per disc. Orders of 5 or more discs also include a dual USB 3.0 and USB-C memory stick. Secure digital delivery is included, and the original discs are returned after conversion.
These are home video DVD figures, not VHS prices. DIGIRAW separately advertises Films & Shows MP4 conversion from £3.75 per DVD, £4.75 per Blu-ray and £9.50 per 4K UHD disc, with a £39 minimum order. Avoid using those collection rates to estimate a family recording order. Request a total for your actual items, including any delivery charges and tax treatment that apply.
Plan delivery around an anniversary date
Most DIGIRAW customers use post or courier, while local drop-off may be available by appointment. Beaworthy is the area in this listing, rather than confirmation of a walk-in counter. Agree the handover arrangements before travelling or sending irreplaceable recordings. Photograph the item labels and retain your inventory so the returned originals can be checked against it.
Normal Home Video orders are typically completed within 7-10 working days from receipt, according to the FAQ. Larger home video batches, Films & Shows collections, CD libraries, specialist recovery work and corporate projects may take longer. For an anniversary screening, leave time for transport and checking the files as well as conversion, and ask DIGIRAW to confirm the expected timing for your order.
Choose a useful copy, then check it properly
DIGIRAW includes secure digital delivery, with USB supplied according to the order. Discuss how you intend to watch the recording: on a computer, through a television or with relatives using their own devices. Ask how the files will be named, how separate recordings will be delivered and how long any download remains available. Those details help you prepare without assuming an unpublished policy.
Once the files arrive, play the beginning, middle and end of each recording and listen to the sound. Check that the events you expected are present before reorganising or renaming anything. Keep an untouched copy of the delivered files, make a second backup in a separate place and retain the originals. A convenient USB stick is useful for viewing, but should not be your only copy.
Let the recording become part of the family story
After conversion, Memrial is a separate private family archive for digital memories. It does not convert tapes and is not part of DIGIRAW. You can bring photos and home videos together in albums, invite relatives and add comments or stories. The free allowance is 2.0 GB of storage shared across the archive, with no card needed; check the size of your videos when deciding what to upload.
Timeline accepts exact or approximate dates, helping relatives find memories by year even when nobody remembers the day. A wedding recording might have a precise date, while childhood footage may only have a likely year. Invite family members to contribute what they remember rather than turning guesses into certainty.
For an anniversary, Live Watch Parties synchronise an uploaded home video, with the host controlling play, pause and seek and relatives joining voice or text chat nearby or far away. The free plan includes 3 hours per month and up to 6 participants. Event Memories adds a secure occasion contribution link: people sign in without needing archive membership, their photos and videos enter the event album, and closing the link keeps the collected memories.
